the odds on a flight and syriana...

three crazy things happened this week as far as planes go....just cant figure out the odds on each one of them....

1. Federal Marshalls aboard an American Airlines flight from Columbia to Orlando shot dead a guy who claimed to have a bomb aboard the plane and refused to follow orders given by the Marshalls. The man was reported to be suffering from bipolar disorder, which basically meant he had a mental illness and without his medications would have behaved the way he did. Now what are the odds that the first time the marshalls shot anyone on an airplane, for a bomb threat would be a really sick man?

2. Southwest airlines at Chicago's Midway airport skid off the runway in heavy snow, broke through the barriers at the airport and managed to hit 3 vehicles on the street nearby, killing one 6yr old child. What are the odds of that child in a car, with 4 other people, among other cars on that road would actually see the nose of a plane hit him and in the process kill him?

3. This one is the creepiest of them all. A Nigerian plane travelliing from Abuja to Port Harcourt was struck by lightning and burst into flames killing all 108 passengers aboard. Now how many times in history would you have seen a flying plane actually get struck by lightning. What could be the odds?

Just a weird week as far as planes go I guess.

I just watched Syriana last nite and was that an amazing movie or what. Directed by the traffic guy, this one too has three plots intertwined, and the best part being noone attempts to preach any of their philosophies to the audience. Dont miss it if u get the chance!
